Description
Originally designed in 1938 by Danish architect and cabinetmaker Frits Henningsen and in continuous production at Carl Hansen & Søn until 2003, Windsor Chair is now reissued with modern comfort in mind. Characterized by a carved wooden seat on which the base and the backrest are directly fixed, thin spindles are fitted into a top curved piece of wood, forming its familiar profile. A cross between a dining chair and a lounge chair, the Henningsen version requires the skills of an experienced carpenter and is precision-shaped from solid FSC-certified oak and sanded by hand, a distinguished example of traditional craftsmanship refined over centuries.
